Dr. Joel Ryan graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2012 before receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 2017. He is a born and raised Maritimer from Halifax, Nova Scotia and made the move out west in September, 2024. He is looking forward to enjoying the milder weather, the year-round golf, and to helping his new Nanaimo community feel their best.
Dr. Ryan served as medical staff at the OHF Championship, the Toronto Super-Series Hockey Championship, for Team Canada Rugby, and at the Lacrosse World Championships in New York as a liaison to Team Australia. He also stood as director of strength and conditioning for the Soccer and Hockey Associations of Newfoundland.
With special interests in athletic injury prevention and treatment alongside care of motor vehicle and workplace injuries, Dr. Ryan treats patients of all ages. Each patient is treated with an individualized plan and he works with them to identify and address the underlying route of their pain or health issue. Therapies provided include: manual adjusting, myofascial release therapies, functional assessments, and movement analysis.
Dr. Ryan and his wife took an extended break from work to travel the world prior to moving to Nanaimo and visited multiple countries in Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and South East Asia. He is always excited to chat with others about their travels or home countries and learn more about other cultures. In his spare time he also enjoys being active by playing hockey, hiking, golfing, or scuba diving.
